Tugga Tha Rapper
Lansing's own Tugga, or simply "Tugg" is frequently recognized as a star amongst his peers and throughout the community. Tugg began rapping at age 5, watching family members write and record songs for former local label Po & Unknown Records. At age 13, he had started recording freestyles and releasing them on MySpace and YouTube. He captured the attention of his peers quickly. By high-school Tugga was writing and recording songs releasing them on Soundcloud, up until his senior year when he released his first mixtape in 2014 titled "DREAM$". Now he's just released his second project titled "Almost Decent", which is being praised around the city. He says Almost Decent represents where he is in life and as an artist. Tugg is inspired by many different artist. He said growing up he was exposed to various types of music which helped him become a better rapper. Jay-Z, Biggie Smalls, Tupac, Lil Wayne, Outkast, Michael Jackson, J.Cole, and Drake are just a few of the artist that Tugga is inspired by. With his clever wordplay, brutal honesty, and strong messages in his music, he does nothing but make you love what he's doing. Tugg is definitely on his way to being a star.
